A Family Dinner Surprise

The aroma of roasted chicken filled the Miller household. It was Wednesday, family dinner night, a cherished tradition for the Millers. Tonight, however, held a surprise. Ten-year-old Lily, usually a quiet observer, bounced in her seat, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Her parents, John and Mary, exchanged knowing glances. John cleared his throat. "Lily, sweetheart, you seem particularly excited tonight." Lily grinned. "I have an announcement!" she chirped, before dramatically pulling a small, elaborately decorated box from under the table. Inside, nestled on a bed of velvet, was a tiny, hand-painted ceramic kitten. "I made this for Grandma Rose!" she exclaimed, her voice brimming with pride. Grandma Rose, who lived in another state, had always loved kittens. This was Lily's first attempt at pottery class, and she had been diligently working on this surprise for weeks. Tears welled in Grandma Rose's eyes (thanks to a pre-arranged video call) as she saw the gift. The family dinner, already special, became even more memorable, a testament to the love and connection they shared. The roasted chicken was delicious, but the real feast was the joy on everyone's faces.
