A Weekend of Giving Back

週末のボランティア活動

英語ストーリー

Last weekend, I participated in a community cleanup initiative organized by the local environmental group, Green Earth. I'd been meaning to volunteer for a while, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. The event was advertised as a family-friendly activity, so I decided to bring my younger sister along. Initially, I was a little apprehensive. I wasn't sure what to expect, and the thought of spending a Saturday morning picking up trash wasn't exactly thrilling. However, as soon as we arrived, I was greeted by a welcoming atmosphere. Volunteers of all ages were already hard at work, and the energy was infectious. We were assigned a section of the park and given gloves and trash bags. My sister, surprisingly, was very enthusiastic, and we worked together, collecting everything from plastic bottles to discarded newspapers. We even found a lost puppy, which we managed to reunite with its owner, adding a heartwarming element to the day. By the end of the morning, we were tired but incredibly satisfied. The park looked significantly cleaner, and we had contributed to a worthwhile cause. More importantly, I realized how rewarding volunteering can be, and I'm already looking forward to my next opportunity to give back to the community.
