I never considered myself a cat person. Dogs, yes, their loyalty and exuberance always appealed to me. But cats? Too aloof, too independent. That was my preconceived notion, until I met Mittens. My sister, feeling overwhelmed with her new job, asked if I could temporarily take care of her cat, Mittens, a fluffy Persian with an air of regal indifference. Initially, I agreed reluctantly, expecting a few weeks of quiet solitude punctuated by the occasional meow. However, Mittens quickly defied my expectations.
