A Busy Morning's English Conversation
忙しい朝の英会話
英語ストーリー
The alarm blared at 6:00 AM, a jarring sound that abruptly ended my peaceful slumber. I leaped out of bed, already feeling the pressure of a busy day ahead. My schedule was packed: a crucial meeting with a potential client, followed by a conference call with the London office, and finally, a presentation to the board. I needed to be sharp and efficient.
After a quick shower and a hastily consumed breakfast, I rushed downstairs, grabbing my briefcase and phone. My neighbor, Sarah, was already outside, watering her vibrant garden. We exchanged quick greetings, and I noticed her slightly stressed expression. "Morning, Sarah! Looking a bit rushed yourself?" I inquired, hoping to lighten the mood.
She chuckled, "You could say that! I'm trying to get everything done before my son's school bus arrives. It’s a constant juggle between work and family life. How about you? Big day?"
I explained my jam-packed schedule, and we briefly discussed our mutual challenges. Despite the early hour and hectic start to our days, sharing a few minutes of conversation helped ease the pressure and set a positive tone for the day. It was a small interaction, but it made a significant difference. The brief exchange of pleasantries served as a much-needed mini-break before diving into my demanding workday.
